Description GENE CLARK, SKIP BATTIN, BLONDIE CHAPLIN, MICHAEL CLARKE, RICK DANKO, JOHN YORK, SNEAKY PETE and RICK ROBERTS, got together in 1985 to celebrate the THE BYRDS 20th anniversary with a series of concerts.
Featuring original BYRDS, Gene Clarke and Michael Clark, and joined by various ex Byrds such as Skip Battin, a couple of FLYING BURRIOTO BROTHERS and friends such as RICK DANKO and BLONDIE CHAPLIN.
This 2 cd set includes versions of such BYRDS classics as Mr Tambourine Man, Eight Miles High and My Back Pages and was recorded at the University Of Arizona, April 1985.
This is the first in a series of three of live recordings paying tribute to one of the most iconic bands ever to come out of the USA, and also is a chance to hear the late great GENE CLARK performing Byrds songs.

should've played all of Dylans songs lyrics - can you imagine if the Byrds had done ALL the lyrics for Mr Tamborine Man instead of the second verse?
McGuinn would later do "Up to me" (badly) for his "pirate" album but the Byrds did good Dylan covers (asides from the frightful Up To Me cover - the orginal off Dylan's Biograph) |

And I sometimes I wished the Byrds and Gene wold just have kept on singing ALL the vesres to those Dylan songs.. Chimes, Tambourine Man..I think the lyrics/lines are just beautiful to hear when they're sung... |
