Anyone remember these guys...not the movie or Dostoeysky...
they were one of the first big SF acts whose main competition was Country Joe.

Wow! Starting up with this internet thing is really introducing me to a whole lot of sixties artists I would probably never hear about on classic rock radio. I'm sure many of these fringe bands were really good. Unfortunately,even fringe artists,no matter how much depth they exhibit,are subject to a certain minimum amount of notoriety or else they just get thrown in the perverbial old vinyl trash bin while pseudo-psychedelic clap trap like "Crimson and Clover" can be heard daily on oldies stations coast to coast! Subject for furhter investigation:Strawberry Alarm Clock beyond their million selling "Incense and Peppermints" single. Check out their appearnce in the 1968 Jack Nicholson flick "Psych-Out" on YouTubetube.
