I was very sorry to hear from Paul (of this board) that Tim Hart had died on Christmas Eve at the age of 61. He had been suffering from lung cancer. Tim is best remembered as a founder member of Steeleye Span...indeed he was ever present within the band despite the many personnel changes that the 1970s saw. Outside Steeleye, Tim recorded with Maddy Prior, three delightful albums of traditional folk music: Folk Songs Of Olde England (volume 1 and 2)and Summer Solstice. In so doing he he helped to bring England's folk heritage to a very much wider audience...thus making it possible for popular music to tap into a very rich vein.

Very sad news. RIP. How young he and his fellow late '40's folk revivalists were ... and now they are slipping away. See while you can

I came in there today and read this. Tim Hart has died but he's left us with some great music that will always live on with me. He certainly understood the relationship of music to a a culture and its people for sure. I have most of his work but not all. I'll fill in the gaps now that he's gone.
