"Won't you be my Dixie chicken & I'll be your Tennessee lamb...." Great music!!!

Just got The Rockets by post. Had to bid a little on it, right up to the last minute! But I still got it for forty bucks.....not bad for an album that shows up maybe once every ten or 15 years. It sold poorly--under 5000 copies originally. Looks like it hasn't been played. NICE.

Nick Drake - definitely one of my favourite singer-songwriters. I've got Fruit Tree - his original 4CD box set on Rykodisc. |

I found a really obscure 1973 Crosby Stills Nash & Young LP. Has a rare b&w photo of the whole band performing on the cover........
It's a promo only, titled "Crosby Stills Nash & Young Month", Celebration Copy. The label is printed on the long past mid 60's blue & green Atlantic label. It was pressed in the Philippines. The song selection is odd too in that it collects solo & group efforts, including "Music Is Love" from one of my fave LPs by David, a couple from Still's first solo LP, Nash's "Military Madness", & my favorite "Ohio".........no solo Neil though. And a bunch of CSN and CSN&Y.
It's the kind of find that makes collecting fun.
Also found a UK promo Buffalo Springfield 1973 MONO with the green & blue Atlantic label called Atlantic Masters. My dealer guys haven't ever seen it either..so they're pretty cool!

On the way from Amazon, I have two related releases: Steeleye Span's The Lark in the Morning and Heydey by the same band's Maddy Prior and Tim Hart. The Steeleye release is in fact the first three albums conflated into a 2CD set. I saw them live at Leicester Uni in 1971 - they were fantastic....although group founder and leader, Ashley Hutchings did have to tell off those members of the audience who had already had too much ale....in his words, "Newcastle Brown". |

I'll be picking up Neil's new one....."Sugar Mountain--Live At Canterbury". Newly discovered tape of a show that happened just before his first solo LP was released. Really great acoustic set of early Neil from 1968. Gotta be a must have!!! (An acoustic "Last Trip To Tulsa"!!)
