Posted - 23/06/2012 : 14:21:09 Neil has truly been a part of my life for so long I can hardly remember a day without him. I still remember reading that little blurb about Neil in 1966-on the back of Springfield's first lp and he was then and always will be my favorite Buff among all the Buff's---but of course I love them all.
Rocker got me back on Neil full force yesterday and J9 with that interview about Americana....thanks, friends.
So since last night I've been listening to Young's 20th anniversary release of sorts for his masterpiece "HARVEST: lp. 1972 to 1992 we have "Harvest Moon"...a perfect album.
Harvest Moon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMA-_ElvKsk
Harvest Moon is the twenty-first studio album by Canadian musician Neil Young, released in 1992. Many of the musicians appearing on it also appeared on his 1972 album Harvest, and this album is considered by many to be a pseudo-sequel to Harvest.
Recovering from a case of tinnitus that had come about after the recording of 1990's Ragged Glory and its subsequent tour (which produced 1991's Weld and Arc), Young was determined to return to the studio. Returning to Nashville and joining up with compatriots like Ben Keith, Young put down the electric guitar, returning to the acoustic guitar, piano and banjo that had dominated albums such as Harvest, Comes a Time and Old Ways.
The album earned the 1994 Juno Award for album of the year. The 2009 release Dreamin' Man is a live album of the subsequent 1992 tour and contains live renditions of all Harvest Moon tracks in a different order.
Matthew Greenwald of AllMusic wrote glowingly of the title track, "Harvest Moon", calling the melody "positively gorgeous".[3]

Posted - 23/06/2012 : 16:16:22 Yes LK, an all time great as a solo songwriter...along with Bob Dylan and fellow Canadian, Joni Mitchell. As with both yourself and Rocker, his first four albums are absolutely quintessential to me. If I had to choose just one of those then I think it would have to be After The Goldrush. 1970 found him at a creative peak. His masterpiece of a third solo album......two wonderful songs on the superlative Deja Vu.......and of course that extremely dark, loss of innocence moment that was the Ohio single....although it is impossible to separate the brilliance of the music from the memory of the tragedy that gave rise to it.
One of my favourite individual songs is Cowgirl In The Sand from the previous album....but I've always loved this more folky, acoustic version from CSNY's Four Way Street:
