There are all genres of music that get us up and dancing. Rock, rockabilly, folk, country rock.....

What gets you up and dancin'?!!

I'll start with something different...the ancient beat of the Celtic drums pounding out the Pagan sound...dance round the fires. This really gets me upand Dancing!! By the way, this amazing Canadian/Irish singer/songwriter Harpist also belongs in great "Female" posts too! Play it loud!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qQHlWkSM_o&feature=related ....dance to the Pagan sound!

and an instrumental with that great Celtic drum beat

So share the music that gets you up and dancing!...if not literally, whatever gets you up & dancin' in your soul

Thanks...she is pretty amazing...singer songwriter and great musician. She really explores the full range of Celtic music...all over the place including some 10 minute songs ..one taken from a 17th century poem put to her tune.

I do love Celtic music....in my soul.

I always found some of Sly's music to just get people up and "Dance to the music"

Sadly, after my back injury, I can't dance anymore but, when I could, I was always very fond of 'Northern Soul' music. Also stuff from the early 80's, Soft Cell, Fine Young Cannibals, Human League, Yazoo, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, New Order, Heaven 17, The Smiths....oh I could go on.

The Clash are a great band, probably my favourite of all time, but I would never say they were 'dance music'!!! Still, everyone to their own taste

"Rock The Casbah"- The Clash
"The Magnificent Seven"- The Clash
"Borderline"- Madonna
K.C. & tHE Sunshine Band
Martha & The Vandellas-"Dancing In The Street"
" You Can't Hurry Love"- The Supremes
so...I THINK I can dance!

...what the world needs now...
