Two of my favorite artists and a seriously favorite band of mine--along with their spoofs (such as "ELEANOR").
Such great music by these great friends and collaborators in insanity!
They backed Zappa, RAY MANZAREK, Springsteen, John Lennon, T-Rex, Hoy Axton, David Cassidy, Roger McGuinn, Steve Stills, Blondie, Alice Cooper, the Ramones and many others!
Their last album "Turtle Soup" is my favorite along with their masterpiece "The Turtles Present The Battle Of The Bands"
So what are your Turtle favorites?!! Two from battle of the Bands....
You Showed Me (Gene Clark/Jim McGuinn) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBBj82YCEzo&feature=related

Posted - 31/03/2011 : 18:19:20 Most certainly a greatest hits indespensible for anyone hungry for the flavor of vibrant, uptempo, good time pop fare. Who doesn't feel the enlivening exuberance of "Happy Together" or the poingnantly haunting tone of "You Showed Me"? Along with the Association and ,of course, the mighty Beach Boys, one of the truly great harmonizing institutions of all American pop lore. "20 Greatest Hits" on Rhino exudes transcendant folk-rock brilliance supremely enhanced on digital c.d. Normally, I prefer pieces from the period delivered in original analog, but this is quite a glaring exception. |
