Posted - 25/03/2011 : 21:32:45 Our LoVE cover of course is a fave..but this must have been covered by HUNDREDS of groups over the years, if not thousands! And every kid's garage band played it too, including mine. This version came out in '67 so I seem hear a Kenny/Love bass line, but Isaac Guillory was a great bass player here and a great guitarist too.
Here is a nice cover by The Cryan' Shames...these guys sizzled LIVE and I saw them in'68....a great GREAT Chicago band

Posted - 31/03/2011 : 18:23:14 I prefer the more perenially recognized rendition by the Experience, but I do enjoy the take by Love and the equally "groovy" version the Byrds cut for their "Fifth Dimension" l.p. |

Here is the slow version by TIM ROSE...the definitive version that Hendrix (and most artists) copied and have followed since!
Tim had a VOICE!! Here is a nice live video....pretty rare.

But the Cryan Shames was the version I'd heard, and of course the name of the ALBUM was "A Scratch in the Sky." Thanks! Sounds as good as it did then.
Great album...their best (Scratch In The Sky), Ed. Their version of HEY JOE is on their first album--SUGAR & SPICE.
This from Cryan Shames' "Scratch In The Sky"... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxoKNOV-NZ4
